Organize Your Work During a Large Auction

A consistent process reduces errors when capturing hundreds of photos or lots.

Work in Lot-Number Order

Whenever possible:

  1. Prepare the physical item.
  2. Confirm the lot number.
  3. Photograph the item.
  4. Complete the lot in LotJitsu.
  5. Move to the next lot.

Avoid photographing many unrelated items before entering their lot numbers.

Use a Physical Lot Marker

Place a visible lot-number card near the item before taking the first photo.

The marker can help your team confirm which item belongs to which lot.

Do not allow the marker to cover important item details.

Complete One Lot Before Starting Another

Finish adding all photos for the current lot before moving to the next item.

This reduces the chance that photos will be assigned to the wrong lot.

Divide Work Carefully

When multiple people are preparing an auction:

  • Assign each person a specific range of lot numbers
  • Avoid having two people work on the same lot
  • Agree on a naming and numbering method
  • Review progress at regular intervals
  • Keep a record of incomplete or unusual lots

Review in Sections

For a large auction, review Auction Health after each section instead of waiting until the end.

For example, review after every 25, 50, or 100 lots based on the size of the auction.
